The true character of ministry is a servant’s heart

We are busy here at St. Chris! Feel free to look into any groups that interest you.

Do you wish to pray for the needs of others? Look into Daughters of the King.

Are you looking for a friendly community? Attend a dinner of the Extended Family or a game night at Vintage Hearts.

For breakfast and bible study, join the Men’s Prayer Breakfast.

Do you wish to pray with others for healing? Look into the Order of St. Luke.

Do you knit or crochet? We have a Prayer Shawl Ministry.

For Lunch & Bible Study or a variety of discussions,

come join our “Lunch Bunch” at noon on Wednesdays.

We also offer a variety of opportunities to help with

our Outreach programs within the community.

Do you wish to help senior citizens & nursing home residents?

Come out and help them play Bingo!

Read more about each group below:

Daughters of the King

The Daughters of the King is a national order of women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church devoted to prayer, service, evangelism, and the strengthening of the spiritual life of the parish.  As a Daughter of the King, the focus is to pray in confidence for those in need, serve Christ with the gifts he has given us, and share our faith with others.

St. Christopher’s DOK Chapter is the Mary Martha chapter.  The DOK are active within the church maintaining the prayer list, conducting receptions for special services, and other activities of benefit to the congregation.

Extended Family

Extended Family is a group of families of all sizes and ages.  Member families range from families of one to families of five.  The group meets the third Sunday of each month at a member’s house. Potluck meals are shared, there is often singing with guitar accompaniment, and we pray together and enjoy good fellowship. Please, join us!

For more information, please contact Kathy Hull-(254) 699-1220 or cashkmh@yahoo.com.

Vintage Hearts

Vintage Hearts is an adult fellowship group that enjoys getting together for fellowship and games.  This is open to all adults, regardless of age or marital status. The members range in age from their early 20’s to the late centurions.

The group gathers once a month for food, fun, fellowship, and conversation at a number of different venues including members’ homes or the church. Normally the group meets the third Saturday evening of each month at 6pm.  Please note, however, childcare is not available for this group.

For more information, please contact Scott Kroeger at (254) 526-0524 or skroeger2011@gmail.com.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast

The Men’s Prayer Breakfast meets in the Parish Hall every second and fourth Saturday of each month.  At 8:00 am, the group enjoys a hearty breakfast and then studies the scripture…all in an hour!  All men are welcome!   Attendees range from those in their twenties to those in their eighties.

Eat…Pray…to start your day.

Please join us!  Interested?  If so, contact Barnett Carthey-(254) 547-9163 or bcarthey@gmail.com.

Order of St Luke

Jesus commissioned his followers to “Go into all the world and preach the Good News of the Kingdom of God, and heal the sick.”  Perhaps more than any other time in history, our world today is still torn with bodies and souls that are sick and broken, so the task before us is far from finished. God’s call to all of us is abundantly clear, and he awaits our joyful and enthusiastic response.

Each one of us has some special healing gift to offer, and the Order of St. Luke is committed to helping each one of us realize that gift.  Members minister to the sick and conduct healing prayers for those in need.

There are prayer stations available during the communion at the church services. One on each side of the Nave.

Katrina Stone is the POC for OSL. Contact the church office for more information.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

We no longer meet as a group, but knitters and crocheters can make prayer shawls at home for the church.

Do you know someone who could use the loving comfort of a Prayer Shawl?  If so, then please contact the church office at (254) 634-7474 and let them know.

Do you knit or crochet, or want to learn?  If so, please feel free to join the ministry. If you are interested in joining the group, contact the church office.   (We also take yarn donations.)

Honduras Good Works – Mission Honduras

Why Honduras?  Because we are called to do good works and because we believe we can and do make a difference – one soul at a time.

Mission Honduras is a week-long medical brigade to one of the poorest areas of Honduras.  Each July, about 60 – 70 volunteers go to the mountainous area of El Paraiso to provide primary health care.

We need physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, translators and LOTS of helpers on each trip.  You do not have to be a medical person to be of help. We have very safe living and food arrangements for the trip.

Honduras Good Works also has a scholarship program, El Paraiso Scholarship, to help send Honduran youth to high school; we also have a church support program, Serving Hands.

If you are interested and would like more information, please check out the Honduras Good Works website at www.hondurasgoodworks.org

food to hundreds of people locally and provides baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas to those in need. With today’s economy, the list of clients has increased, and the need is greater than ever. Their

Indian Oaks Bingo

July Ministry-Kathy Hull-POC

St. Christopher’s Outreach hosts a bingo night at Indian Oaks Living Center each month.

Usually about 7 volunteers help with calling bingo, assisting residents, and distributing prizes.

Average attendance is about 20 residents. In 2020, we will add our bingo as a ministry of the

month and collect some of the items needed for prizes. VBS has adopted Indian Oaks to take up a collection of prizes for the Bingo.

Wednesday Lunch Bunch Bible Study

The “Lunch Bunch” Bible study is a bible study group that meets on Wednesdays at noon. Participants can bring their lunch and eat while studying a book of the bible. The group has lively and thought-provoking discussions about each book studied. Sometimes the group will read the Psalms or study the history of the church. Anyone is welcome to join.
